Head chef Charlie Barr and her team are cooking a menu featuring traditional pub favourites as well as something a little different. They are in the kitchen every day preparing all the dishes fresh on the premises.

We use the very best quality fresh ingredients - fantastic outdoor-reared pork sausages; free range chicken; simple, pan-fried fish & seafood; dry-aged British steak; wonderful, award-winning cheeses – all sourced from producers who take pride in their products & an ethical stance in their production.

Our menus will always make the most of seasonal ingredients,(this ensures we avoid air-freighting & keeps us in touch with the cycle of the year) while combining the best of great British cooking & influences from around the world that are now part of our culture.  Daily specials add an extra dimension, with premium specials at the weekends for that 'what the hell!' occasion.  We love quality local produce too, so if you have an allotment or kitchen garden with a glut of fruit or veg, bring it in & swap it for food or drink.  Fair exchange is no robbery.

We don’t have a children’s menu, because we think they should have the opportunity to eat a full range of good food.  Charlie is happy to make smaller portions or simplified versions of anything on our menu at half the adult price.

Get the day off to a cracking start by popping in for breakfast from 9am - we offer free toast & preserves when you buy a hot drink - or elevenses of local home-made cake & Union Hand-roasted coffee. If you’re looking for a speedy lunch, order our Roast of the Day – a great quality roast with special vegetable dish of the day.  It’s carved to order & served straight away if you need to eat & run.  We carry on serving a range of hot & cold dishes including deli boards all through the day, with a full a la carte menu available in the bar or eatery from 6.30pm

What are you waiting for?

We have well-kept real ales on tap, both local, from Tring Brewery, and from Purity, a small multi-award-winning brewery in Warwickshire, which has become one of our favourites, as well as lagers including Peroni, Staropramen & Becks Vier.  We  also serve a selection of G&Ts and fine Bloody Marys.

As for wine, we don’t believe a pub is the place for a leather-bound tome so our short but broad-ranging wine list is unstuffy & sensibly-priced. We’re as keen to impress you with the quality of our house Merlot as with a top class Gavi di Gavi so we work very hard to source delicious wines for every pocket.
